Label Under Glass Apothecary Jars

Eight 'Label Under Glass' (LUG) apothecary jars sourced from a local chemists in York, with original gilded glass labels and remnants of original contents.

The 'Label Under Glass' technique was invented in the mid 19th Century to allow for elaborate and decorative labelling to be protected by a thin glass casing.

Given age and regular use by Edwardian chemists, they have some age-related wear but no chips or cracks to the bottles.
